| 2:58PM | I appreciate everyone holding up on typing at this point, when Liev arrives I'll start things off | ||
| 2:59PM | for now, we wait and appreciate your patience | ||
| 3:00PM | Jim: | The transcript mode is on, please hold off on typing unless I call on you, thanks. We're going to follow the itinerary. | |
| 3:00PM | meenakshi: | hi sweety | |
| 3:00PM | sorry | ||
| 3:00PM | Jim: | I will repeat this a few times throughought the session.. | |
| 3:02PM | Approximately 40 fans in chat. FYI, thank you for not typing. | ||
| 3:06PM | At this point please be patient as Liev makes his way to our chat room... | ||
| 3:06PM | There might be a few seconds delay as Angie and/or myself communicate with him privately and he settles in... | ||
| 3:07PM | Angie: | Well, here we go everyone. Welcome, Liev | |
| 3:07PM | Liev Schreiber: | Thank You sorry took me a second to figure it out | |
| 3:08PM | Jim: | Welcome, Liev, we have approximately 40 very excited fans! | |
| 3:08PM | Jim: | No problem, we understand... all this technology, but really it's all about making human contact.... it's a pleasure to meet you. | |
| 3:08PM | Liev Schreiber: | Likewise | |
| 3:08PM | Jim: | I wish to thank Lauren, Liev's personal assistant as well for her cooperation, patience and hard work in making this happen. | |
| 3:09PM | Liev, I will serve as host and technical contact, for now I will turn it over to Angie who will commence activities with any prepared comments and then we'll get into prepared questions if you don't mind.... | ||
| 3:09PM | Go ahead, Angie | ||
| 3:10PM | Liev Schreiber: | Okey Dokey | |
| 3:10PM | Angie: | I am going to begin with a couple of questions from folks who cannot be here | |
| 3:10PM | Liev Schreiber: | OK | |
| 3:10PM | Angie: | Elle wants to know: I'm into astrology & wonder if Liev knows the time that he was born? | |
| 3:11PM | Liev Schreiber: | I think 10:30am | |
| 3:11PM | Angie: | Alexandra asks: Does he know EII will not released in Czech´s theatres and if there exists at least one hope he can change it (he works in Barrandov again)? | |
| 3:12PM | Liev Schreiber: | As far as I know it will come to the Czech Republic but I don't have a release schedule in front of me. | |
| 3:12PM | Angie: | Reggi asks:As an up and coming writer (stage and film), I would love to know what is the most important element of any script that grabs your attention. Is it the character itself or the story in general? Also, would you ever consider doing a stage play here in Chicago? We've got some great theatre companies here (Steppenwolf and you would make a great fit) and your fans here in the Midwest would love to see you. | |
| 3:14PM | Liev Schreiber: | I have always admired the theater community in Chicago and would love to work there. Just haven't had the oppurtunity yet. For me it is story first with character following closely behind. | |
| 3:14PM | Angie: | Nezee asks: Is there any word on the John Clark role, or if Liev would even want it? I see John Woo is no longer attached. | |
| 3:15PM | Liev Schreiber: | Haven't heard a thing but would be thrilled to play him again if the elements were right. | |
| 3:15PM | vine: | Cheers to great acting! | |
| 3:15PM | Angie: | Amy Kim asks: I have never actually had the previlege to see "Macbeth" put on as a show on stage, all we've done in English was to read the script and analysed it. So I would like to ask, when the play is actually being staged, what two scenes are the most captivating in your opinion and why? | |
| 3:16PM | constantine: | hello | |
| 3:17PM | Lobelia Overhill: | *waves* hello | |
| 3:17PM | constantine: | how do you get to the different rooms? | |
| 3:17PM | Jim: | Please refrain from typing while Liev is in the room, thank you... | |
| 3:18PM | Kindly sit back and enjoy, everyone, please continue... | ||
| 3:18PM | Liev Schreiber: | My favorite is probably when Macbeth is considering killing Duncan and just when he decides not to Lady M enters and gives him a good talking to. Fantastic dialogue. Some of Shakespeare's best! Next would probably be Tomorrow and tomorrow... always gets me that speech. | |
| 3:18PM | Angie: | Just a couple more and I will hand it over to Jim. | |
| 3:18PM | Can you tell us anything about your role in The Painted Veil? | ||
| 3:19PM | Liev Schreiber: | I play a man who the lead character (Kitty Fain) cheats on her husband (Ed Norton) with. | |
| 3:20PM | Angie: | Is there any basis to the rumor that writer and producer Ben Trebilcook has written the lead villain role in Daisy Scarlett for you? | |
| 3:20PM | Liev Schreiber: | Don't know anything about it. | |
| 3:21PM | Angie: | All that talk during the GGGR run about cursing made us wonder, just what IS your favorite curse word or phrase? | |
| 3:22PM | Jim: | (if James Lipton were here....) ;) | |
| 3:22PM | Liev Schreiber: | haven't got a favorite but I spent a good deal of time with the F word last year. | |
| 3:22PM | Angie: | LOl, thanks. I am going to turn things over to Jim now so everyone else gets the chance to speak | |
| 3:22PM | Jim: | I have a question... First, compliments on your performance in RKO-281 - and wondering how you prepared for the role and if you found any comparisons between your recent directing experience and that of the young and energetic Orson? Did learning about Orson help you with your project? | |
| 3:23PM | Everyone else please hold off on typing, I will call on you... | ||
| 3:26PM | hey ladies | ||
| 3:26PM | Jim: | Everyone please refrain from typing unless I call upon you, thank you... Liev, did you see my RKO question? | |
| 3:26PM | Liev Schreiber: | Thank you. Basically I just rewatched everything that Orson had done and talked to some people who had actually spent time with him. Also read both bio's and ate everything I could get my hands on him. To draw any kind of comparison between his career and mine seems ridculous to me but... I'll take it. Thank you. | |
| 3:27PM | Jim: | Thank you... My last question is do you plan on narrating any more PBS or HBO specials? I find your narrative abilities first rate and wonder if you realize how appreciated those skills are by your fan base? We noticed! Thank you! This is the final question from Angie and myself. | |
| 3:27PM | Liev Schreiber: | Love the work and will continue it for as long as they will have me. Thank you. | |
| 3:28PM | Angie: | OK, Jim will begin calling on you all, in turn. | |
| 3:29PM | Jim: | Okay, Cami, please ask your question now... | |
| 3:30PM | After Cami comes maria1507, please PREPARE your quetion now | ||
| 3:30PM | Cami: | Oh, okay | |
| 3:30PM | Jim: | After CAMI comes lilithlotr, please prepare now... | |
| 3:30PM | Cami: | Well, Liev what type of play would you like to do next? | |
| 3:31PM | Liev Schreiber: | Hi Cami. Thinking about Pinter's "The Homecoming" but nothing definate yet. Still owe the Public something and would love to try Macbeth again. | |
| 3:32PM | Jim: | Thanks, Cami. maria1507, go now... | |
| 3:32PM | maria1507: | What is your main objective for you for the near future, enhancement of you career, spiritual growth, or indeed a family? Also are you a homely man, can you cook? Thank you. | |
| 3:33PM | Jim: | Please try to ask one question if possible, Liev I am sure would appreciate that, thank you everyone... Liev, please continue... | |
| 3:36PM | Debbie555: | what happened | |
| 3:36PM | Lobelia Overhill: | dunno | |
| 3:36PM | Jim: | no typing please I am investigating | |
| 3:37PM | angelalilley: | i got booted out:sad: | |
| 3:37PM | maria1507: | so wa | |
| 3:37PM | Liev Schreiber: | Yes I cook. can I cook, is an entirely different question. I would like to think yes as it is one of my main sources of relaxation. Of love the pragmatism of cooking. I think the past fifteen years have been pretty full on and I am trying to learn to absorb things before I tear into the next one. I have realized the ruthlessness of time and want to figure out ways to be more presnet in the moment in order to deal with it. Sorry I am crap at typing. | |
| 3:38PM | Jim: | lilithlotr, please ask one question, you're up... | |
| 3:38PM | lilithlotr: | Stage actors (and directors) always talk about the immediacy of the interaction as being so important to them. I was in Toronto for the film festival, and I thought the Q&A there for EII was quite good. Does that kind of feedback in any way make up for your "distance" from the film audience? | |
| 3:39PM | Jim: | Debbie, you're up after Liev answers - he and I chatted privately for a moment, all is well! | |
| 3:39PM | Liev Schreiber: | Absolutely! That Q&A was such a thrill for all of us. Eugene is still talking about it. | |
| 3:40PM | Jim: | Debbie, go ahead! | |
| 3:40PM | Debbie555: | Liev,Hi, My inquiry has 3 parts to it:1. Who is your favorite Actor?2. If you were in a chat room with that person what would you ask?3. Can you ask yourself that same question and reply?Thanks :-k The Debmeister | |
| 3:41PM | Jim: | To mikehc69: please prepare one question, you're up after Liev answers debbie.... (hold off until then, thak you).... | |
| 3:42PM | FYI to all in this room: There are 52 of us in this room now, we won't get to everyone, I am picking randomly until 4pm when we'll see how Liev feels and go from there... please do not type unless I call on you.... thank you! | ||
| 3:43PM | Liev Schreiber: | Sorry Deb yours is a question of perspective and unfotunately I do not have that kind of perspective when it comes to acting. Too hard for me to single out any particular actor. So many have influenced me over the years and I'm afraid the ones I treasured most are relatively unknown. | |
| 3:43PM | Jim: | Mike, go ahead please... | |
| 3:43PM | mikehc69: | Mr. Schrieber, I was just wondering if you were aware of the massive fan popularity/demand on the internet over the past few months for you getting the role of Harvey Dent/Two-Face in Christopher Nolan's proposed Batman Begins sequel(s) and if so, do you have any interest in the role whatsoever? Thanks! | |
| 3:44PM | Jim: | (nice choice of colors, Mike, heh...) | |
| 3:44PM | mikehc69: | heh sorry | |
| 3:44PM | Jim: | Ms. Lydon, please prepare a question, you're up after Liev replies to Mike... I'll let you know when... | |
| 3:45PM | Liev Schreiber: | Yes...Write your cogressmen now! Sounds like fun to me. Again I seem to be the last one to hear cause I know nothing about it. | |
| 3:46PM | Jim: | Ms. Lydon, go ahead please.... | |
| 3:47PM | Angie: | Ms Lydon may actually have left | |
| 3:47PM | We might want to move ahead | ||
| 3:47PM | Jim: | Okay, geordianne, please ask your question.... | |
| 3:47PM | geordianne: | Hi Liev. No question actually - just want to say thanks for being here today. Love your work and can't wait to see all of your new and future projects. | |
| 3:47PM | Jim: | marleen, you're up after Liev answers geordianne, please prepare now... | |
| 3:48PM | Liev Schreiber: | Thank you Geordianne. It is a pleasure. I'm sorry I have been out of the loop with all of you for so long. | |
| 3:48PM | geordianne: | Well come by anytime. | |
| 3:49PM | Jim: | Marleen, please ask your question (and compliments to all for being such excellent fans here)... | |
| 3:49PM | marleen: | would you ever consider doing a play in London?I'm Belgian and London is only 3 hours away, so... | |
| 3:49PM | Liev Schreiber: | I'm there more than you know. true narcissist... | |
| 3:50PM | Jim: | peep, please ask your question now, thank you... | |
| 3:50PM | Peep: | Hi Liev! And Happy Almost Birthday to Angie! Now for the question: When you played in Othello, did you feel your character loved Desdemona or only wanted to possess her like a collector does with fine art? | |
| 3:50PM | Sweetyoct1978: | Welcome from Germany, Liev. My first question is: Are you, as Liev, more funny or serious? Thank you and good luck for you. :smile: | |
| 3:51PM | Liev Schreiber: | we have been invited to bring Glengarry to London but i felt it would be too much for me right now. Haven't had a break in quite a while and Illuminated was pretty exhausting. | |
| 3:52PM | Jim: | Liev, kindly answer sweety's if you don't mind, everyone else please refrain from typing, we need to keep protocol so Liev is not confused... nor myself, for that matter! | |
| 3:52PM | Please refrain from typing unless called upon, thank you... | ||
| 3:53PM | Liev Schreiber: | Hi Peep. Have to say neither. For me (as Iago), she was just another human being for whom I had nothing but resentment and disdain. | |
| 3:53PM | Jim: | To all in the room, please allow Liev a few mins to catch up... we all appreciate your patience and cooperation! | |
| 3:54PM | Liev, the question from sweety was: Are you, as Liev, more funny or serious? Thank you and good luck for you | ||
| 3:54PM | Liev Schreiber: | I would have to say funny, but then again, looks aren't everything! | |
| 3:54PM | Jim: | Epiphany, please ask now... | |
| 3:54PM | Epiphany: | You were quoted as saying,"I’d never been to Ukraine before, nor anywhere behind the old Iron Curtain. The incredible thing is—and I know it’s impossible—but it smells familiar." I think I know exactly what you mean, but I'd love it if you could elaborate on that. | |
| 3:55PM | Jim: | Linda, you are up after Liev answers epiphany, please prepare your question now... | |
| 3:56PM | sies: | hello | |
| 3:56PM | Is Liev here? | ||
| 3:56PM | Liev Schreiber: | Can't really explain it but there was just something about the air that felt familiar in my lungs. Burnt tires... wood... sweat and rain. | |
| 3:57PM | Jim: | Linda, please ask your question... | |
| 3:57PM | Note to all: We're close to 10pm Liev's local time, last couple of questions coming... | ||
| 3:58PM | Linda: | My apologies if this is a duplicate question as I have missed some of the chat, but Liev, you have had the opportunity to work with many actors. Does anyone stand out to you as a mentor figure? | |
| 3:58PM | Jim: | PollyA, please prepare your question, I will call on you when it's time... | |
| 3:59PM | Reminder, please do not type unless called upon, thank you... | ||
| 3:59PM | 2 more questions following this one... | ||
| 4:01PM | Liev Schreiber: | Check my answer to Deb. There have been so many who have influenced me that it is difficult to single anyone out. As is the case with people I have learned different things from each one... In the spirit of behavioral relativity, none more important than the others. Dogs and kids are pretty high on my list though. | |
| 4:01PM | Jim: | PollyA please ask your question... Moonrider, you're up after Lieve replies to PollyA's question... | |
| 4:01PM | PollyA: | You must be thrilled with the response to EII! If you could do it over again, is there anything you would do differently? | |
| 4:03PM | meenakshi: | waiting so patiently- meena here- if you want feel free to call on me! | |
| 4:03PM | Jim: | Jacqui - please prepare your question now, thank you... | |
| 4:03PM | Please do not type in this room unless called upon, the order is random.... thank you... | ||
| 4:03PM | Liev Schreiber: | Everything and nothing. sorry if that seems like an evasive answer but so much of what illuminated was for me was the process of making the film and not the actual result. If I were to change anything the process would also change. You know what I mean? | |
| 4:03PM | Jacqui: | You can skip me ... I'm just here to lurk ... :D | |
| 4:04PM | Jim: | Jacqui, please ask your question now.... | |
| 4:04PM | Oh, okay.... meenaskshi,, you have the floor, one question please... | ||
| 4:05PM | Eve: | . I'm one the lucky ones to have seen you perform Othello, Henry V, Betrayal and GGGR (congrats on well deserved Tony) here in NYC. You bring a range of talent and a passion to the stage that is rarely seen. I’ve no doubt you will continue to enjoy much success in the Film world, still I hope you will return to the NY stage again and again. Kevin Spacey, as you probably know, is the Artistic Director at the Old Vic giving him the opportunity to act, direct, produce and expand the theatre | |
| 4:05PM | Jim: | Meena, please ask now, otherwise we'll stop and see how Liev feels being it's past 10pm where he is, and he's a busy man... | |
| 4:06PM | Moonrider: | Was waiting for the ok Jim..sorry.Hello Liev! I'm in Jamaica and my time is running short at the cafe, thanks for taking the time to be here. EII was beautiful, your vision behind the camera was stunning. Gomer and I saw GGGR in Aug and were delightfully entertained. No question, just wanted to let you know if the paparazzi starts to run you and Chicken off the streets of NY, Gomer and I will gladly intervene. Then we can join Pfunk and Puck for a cold one at Johnie's downtown. :wink: Martina | |
| 4:06PM | Jim: | Liev, consider moonrider's question the last... | |
| 4:07PM | paulette: | ok well, bye liev nice to know you took the time to talk with so many fans | |
| 4:07PM | Liev Schreiber: | Thanks Martina!! Hasn't been a problem but I'll ask Chick. | |
| 4:07PM | Foxy_Cleo77: | Liev - You're the Best! Best of luck to you and future endeavors! | |
| 4:07PM | Jim: | No more comments at this time, please, Liev will respond to the final couple of questions and we'll see how he feels... | |
| 4:08PM | Liev Schreiber: | Thanks Cleo. | |
| 4:08PM | meenakshi: | Finely. Thanks. Not really a question but more of a love pat to Liev. Liev, earlier you said you are working on being more present as the past fifteen years have just flown by etc.... This world, my world is illussion as I am sure you know. Being true to yourself, living in your own breath and working on NOT reacting is really all that matters in the end. Take care of yourself. Lots of rest and patience during the exhaustion of 'hurry up and wait' . | |
| 4:08PM | sittel: | Is this Liev or a BAB JOKE!!!!! | |
| 4:08PM | Jim: | We'll let this one in, too, Liev, if you don't mind... | |
| 4:09PM | Liev Schreiber: | Thank you Meenaakshi. Will try. | |
| 4:09PM | It's me... I think. | ||
| 4:09PM | vier: | Good evening Liev! Greetings from NY! How is Omen 666? Is everyone on board? | |
| 4:09PM | Jacqui: | Can I ask if you have any theatrical ventures coming up? Or did I miss that? Also, good vibes etc. I hope you are getting some rest. :D | |
| 4:10PM | meenakshi: | profound words like that and all i get is thank you. alright Liev you have to be tired. | |
| 4:10PM | sixpaws: | LOL *sorry* I had to laugh | |
| 4:11PM | Jim: | Folks, pardon me while I chat with Liev privately for a second... | |
| 4:11PM | Liev Schreiber: | Good Morning NYC. Omen is going surprisingly well. Michael Gambon, David Thewlis, and Pete Postelthwaite have joined the cast! | |
| 4:12PM | Thanks Jacqui... acting is surprisingly relaxing after everything else. | ||
| 4:13PM | vier: | Did Damien terrorized u yet! ? | |
| 4:14PM | Jim: | CaZ - you have the floor | |
| 4:14PM | CaZ: | What was the most difficult part of adapting Everything Is Illuminated for the screen? | |
| 4:15PM | Liev Schreiber: | T^he sense of responibility I felt towards Jonathan and his novel. | |
| 4:15PM | Jim: | FINAL QUESTION..... Melissa! You get the honor... | |
| 4:16PM | How about Jen? | ||
| 4:17PM | Melissa610: | Hi Liev. You mentioned wanting to do something at the Public. Any projects in mind? Oh - and congratulations on all you've been doing. | |
| 4:17PM | Jim: | Let's make it a good one, Jen? | |
| 4:17PM | Liev Schreiber: | Hi Melissa, hope all is well. Yes been thinking alot about Macbeth. Nothing definite yet though. | |
| 4:18PM | Jim: | Jen, after Melissa, you're up if you're there, then we need to move on with our itinerary | |
| 4:18PM | meenakshi: | Jim-Jim Jim- I know no more questions but you called on me and I blew it. like an idiot. Please please may i ask a real verified question pretty please with sugar? | |
| 4:18PM | Deanie: | Sorry, I have 2. You don't have to answer if you don't want to! Liev, what are your feelings on Jesus & the antichrist? A good story or something you believe is true? Were you ever hesitant about being in Omen 666? Thanks Liev! | |
| 4:18PM | Cami: | Liev you are such sweetheart | |
| 4:18PM | Deanie: | oops sorry! ididnt mean to push the chat! | |
| 4:19PM | meenakshi: | I guess what happend was I just wasn't ready. | |
| 4:19PM | Angie: | OK, everyone. We are going to open the floor to open chat. | |
| 4:20PM | Peep: | Yipee!!! | |
| 4:20PM | Gomer: | Liev I think you're a gem, thanks so much for being here today. My question is do you have a tattoo.......okay not really. My REAL question is, if you weren't an actor, what would you be? | |
| 4:20PM | Epiphany: | free for all!!! | |
| 4:20PM | kiki: | Does this mean Liev is bye bye? | |
| 4:20PM | Lobelia Overhill: | hurrah! | |

| 4:20PM | paulette: | yay! | |
| 4:20PM | Sweetyoct1978: | bye liev | |
| 4:20PM | Angie: | Pfunk is logging on | |
| 4:20PM | paulette: | ok | |
| 4:20PM | Debbie555: | does this mean that Liev can still view us | |
| 4:20PM | meenakshi: | no bye Liev | |
| 4:20PM | wait | ||
| 4:20PM | Shelley: | Hi Liev, Thank you for taking time to talk to us today! | |
| 4:20PM | kenu: | bie! | |
| 4:20PM | gaiea: | Hello, Liev. If you had a magic wand, what would you change about the labour-intensive process of filmmaking? And what would you characterise as your acme - past, present or future - with respect to your career? It is quite the pleasure to watch you work; thank you. | |
| 4:20PM | Sweetyoct1978: | and sorry for my mistake again. | |
| 4:20PM | Jacqui: | Take care, Liev. Thanks for everything ... : | |
| 4:20PM | junebug: | whoa... and the room explodes. | |
| 4:20PM | chrisberni: | Thank you Liev! | |
| 4:20PM | lilithlotr: | Well, 90% of the people were good - not too bad an average! | |
| 4:20PM | Rhiannon: | Thankyou! | |
| 4:20PM | Jim: | Great job, Liev, and ladies.... | |
| 4:20PM |
